Preparation

Here is a map with our travel plans to Australia in April 2007.

Here is our itinerary:

01 April: Lars, Georges, Matthieu,and Pierre depart Brussels to London Heathrow for our long flight to Oz (it'll take 27 hours to get there!)
02 April: 3-hour stop-over in Bangkok
03 April: Arrive at 6AM in Sydney
03 - 06 Apirl: Sydney
06 April: Flight to Brisbane; drive to Buderim on the Sunshine Coast, where we are doing a home swap until 15 April.
06-09 Apirl: Explore the Sunshine Coast, e.g. Noosa, Maroochy, perhaps day trip to Brisbane
09 April: Drive to the Town of 1770
10 April: Day on Lady Musgrave Island (southern part of the Great Barrier Reef)
10 April evening: arrive in Rainbow Beach
11 & 12 April: Two days on Fraser Island, the world's largest sandbank
13-15 April: Buderim and Sunshine Coast, perhaps day trip to Brisbane
15 April: The kids fly back to Europe and Lars and Georges fly to Newcastle in New South Wales, where we will do our second home swap in Port Stephens
15-19 April: Newcastle/Port Stephens area, with trips planned to the Hunter Valley wine region and New England
19 April: Fly to Melbourne
19-23 April: Melbourne, where we will be staying with a friend (Andrea). Georges will visit his hometown of Mount Waverly. Perhaps a day trip to the Great Ocean Road or to Mornington Peninsula
23 April: Flight back to Europe, with a stop-over in Singapore.
24 April: arrive back in Brussels.
